We resume weekly Wednesday morning walks on April 29, for a 10 week term.
Last term, thanks to a lovely big group of positive walkers, we mostly enjoyed weekly walks in light rain or shine, due to an unusually wet season. Regular walking in nature builds immunity during autumn, it is not so hot, the sun lower, warming and strengthening our bones, assisting wellness and wellbeing for winter.
Term 2, Ngahere/Autumn, we will enjoy the moana and its beaches, often just to ourselves after school holidays. The sand is very forgiving, perfect to feel the push off of our feet and sense the rhythm of our steps and diagonal action of our limbs and poles for some. On high tide mornings we will be in the ngahere, amongst the healthy lush rakau, and green grass, so healing after rain.
As the earth is well watered, you will need sturdy light hiking shoes with both good arch support and grippy soles. Regular fit safe walkers are encouraged to participate in both walking and social connection.
