When Svadisthana chakra is balanced it harmonises the fluids of the body, gives a sense of flow and free movement, eases arthritis and blood disorders. Svadisthana is concerned with watery things – circulation, urination, menstruation, tears.
Physically Svadisthana is located within the pelvic basin the sacral plexus just above Muladhara. It is associated with our urinary and reproductive organs, lower lumbar spine, stability of the pelvis and free movement of the hips.
Spiritually, Svadisthana, the colour of orange, is the dwelling place of the Self, concerned with our likes, dislikes, impulses and desires, sensuality and emotions, being comfortable with our sexuality and relationships, including relationships with ourselves – being content with our selves. Our needs are often habitual negative beliefs held at an unconscious level. The gift of this chakra is experiencing our lives through feelings/emotions and sensations. At Svadisthana we unlock our or source of our creativity and movement. The second chakra is symbolic of rising consciousness activity and purity.
If Svadisthana is balanced our desires no longer dominate, we are more aware of others. It brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, patience, openness to pleasure, ability to accept and embrace change, open to new experiences, ‘go with the flow’, a sense of harmony.
