During July, I was so fortunate to be able to attend a Kriya Yoga Retreat at Ohui Ashram, near Opoutere, Coromandel.
Kriya practice ‘reminds us that this Self is within, as our constant being.’ We learnt to ‘stay on the point’, becoming comfortable with ‘knowing and dwelling in the Self. The kriyas are deeply transformative practices which strike right to the heart of the ‘sleeping’ kundalini energy -awakening it. Despite ourselves, our restlessness, our inability to focus, the kriyas can draw out our relationship with the Self, everything we need we have within us, and, when kriya practitioners stay with them and are faithful to the instructions, the kriyas can add a whole new dimension to yoga practice.’
This 7-day residential course guides aspirants through twenty traditional Kriyas distilled from an original set of seventy that have been transmitted from Kriya teacher to Kriya teacher within the Saraswati lineage. In particular, via Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh, India. Like notes of music, it is important to select and combine the right practices in order to have a harmonious effect. This is why receiving the Kriyas as a transmission from an adept Kriya teacher is important.
Look out for this Retreat next year. http://www.ashramyoga.com/about-ohui-retreat.html
